Polarion vs. DOORS NG
Many companies who’ve selected DOORS NG for requirements are migrating to Polarion for:
- Pricing: DOORS NG licenses cost between 2x-3x more than Polarion licenses.
- Scalability: IBM doesn’t recommend DOORS NG for complex projects or distributed teams. Polarion’s web-based architecture allows it support large-scale projects beyond that of DOORS NG.
- Capabilities: DOORS NG lacks important capabilities that Polarion offers such as variants, requirements workflow, and reuse. Variants are particularly important for delivering products with mass customization.
- ALM: Many companies start with Polarion as a requirements management tool and ultimately decide to use it for full Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). DOORS NG doesn’t offer this capability.
